COLLAGE WITH THE NEW YORK TIMES

I taught an experimental techniques course with Alana Barrett in the spring of 2021, when the pandemic had been with us for one year. In one class, we reviewed the textiles of Annie Albers, and challenged our students to use found materials to weave with. The Sunday New York Times remains my lifeline to an urban life that I miss very much. My husband will bring me the paper, and I hug it (and him). And I read it from cover to cover for the whole week.

In this series, I combine weaving with paper and newspaper cutouts created during Zoom open life classes with a model. They are about connection and use the tulip, a flower that represents rebirth.
